COMPANY HISTORY & PROFILE 1987-2007

Mericana Corporation was formed in 1987 in Grand Junction, Colorado, as a construction management and development firm to oversee the building of a planned community and golf course located in suburban Grand Junction. In 1990 Mericana chose to relocate to Telluride, Colorado, where it has since focused its construction and development endeavors. Recently Mericana has expanded into Montrose, Ridgway and Grand Junction. Mericana Corporation believes strongly in the merits of the collaborative process between the Owner, Architect, Designer and Builder.

As of summer of 09 we are currently finishing a spectacular Ski in Ski out residence. This project is one of the most spectacular homes in the area. If you are in the area give us a call to check it out before August 09.

Mericana Corporation is active in community organizations, government and public forums. This type of involvement is essential for the company to thoroughly understand the changing dynamics of the community as they relate to local government, federal and state regulatory agencies, and public opinion. Mericana has regularly been involved with the town of Telluride and Mt. Village on construction projects. The most notable project is the Gondola Plaza Terminal, an elaborate multi-million dollar project in the Mountain Village Core built for the Telluride Ski and Golf Company. This facility is a major component of a public transportation system that links the Town of Mountain Village and the Telluride Ski Area with the Town of Telluride.

Substantial ongoing projects give Mericana the ability to draw from a professional and reliable pool of established subcontractors and provide an economy-of-scale benefit to individual projects as a result of these relationships. The above factors, in conjunction with a staff of very competent and professional construction personnel, have consistently resulted in the completion of projects on time and within budget.

A note about Green Building:
Over the past few years we have become one of the region's most experienced green builders. Two of our projects have received the LEED Silver award*. Recently we were the first builder in the Mountain Village to build a project under the new green building codes. As a result we worked closely with the Mountain Village Building department and the New Community Coalition to offer the builder's prospective on new codes. Cooperation from the building segment has resulted in codes for a sustainable future in this area. Our project in particular mitigated driveway snowmelt with a Solar PV system.

Ray Bailis lived the "Green Lifestyle" off the grid, for 12 years. His lifestyle was the subject of a feature article in Real Simple Magazine, March 2003. During this time period Ray become an expert on alternative power, green products and building practices.

LEED certification*As per the NRDC - Natural Resources Defense Council - a LEED certification is "the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability.
