COMPANY HISTORY & PROFILE 1987-2007
Mericana Corporation was formed in 1987 in Grand Junction, Colorado, as a construction management and development firm to oversee the building of a planned community and golf course located in suburban Grand Junction. In 1990 Mericana chose to relocate to Telluride, Colorado, where it has since focused its construction and development endeavors. Recently Mericana has expanded into Montrose, Ridgway and Grand Junction. Mericana Corporation believes strongly in the merits of the collaborative process between the Owner, Architect, Designer and Builder.
Mericana is currently finishing three large homes in the Mt. Village, an infra-structure development project in Montrose (Stoneridge - 100 single family home sites), and 30 plus large and small remodels. At this time Mericana has 19 employees, six located in Telluride or the Mt. Village.
Mericana Corporation is active in community organizations, government and public forums. This type of involvement is essential for the company to thoroughly understand the changing dynamics of the community as they relate to local government, federal and state regulatory agencies, and public opinion. Mericana has regularly been involved with the town of Telluride and Mt. Village on construction projects. The most notable project is the Gondola Plaza Terminal, an elaborate multi-million dollar project in the Mountain Village Core built for the Telluride Ski and Golf Company. This facility is a major component of a public transportation system that links the Town of Mountain Village and the Telluride Ski Area with the Town of Telluride.
